This Policy explains what data the TearOff mobile app ("the app", "we") processes and how we protect it. By using TearOff you agree to this Policy.
In short
- You don't need an account to use the app — we don't collect your name, email or phone number unless you contact us.
- On first launch we create an anonymous identifier so we can save your favourites, predictions and leagues without tying them to your identity.
- We process anonymous usage analytics, minimal technical data and (with your consent) a push notification token.
- We do not sell your data. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
Data we process
- Anonymous identifier: a random code generated on first launch and stored on your device. It lets us save your in-app data (below) without a name or email.
- Technical data: platform (iOS/Android), app language and version — for compatibility and stability.
- Usage analytics: anonymous events (which screens and actions you open, the related race/discipline) — on our own servers, to improve the product.
- In-app data on our servers (linked to the anonymous identifier): your favourite team or driver, your race predictions, and leagues you create or join (including the league name you choose).
- Push token: only if you enable notifications — to send session-start reminders and alerts.
- On-device preferences: language, spoiler-free mode — stored locally.
- Purchase status: whether you hold a Premium subscription (no card data — payments go through the App Store / Google Play).
Why we use it
- To provide app features: timing, telemetry, calendar, commentator, predictions and leagues.
- To keep your favourites, predictions and league membership across launches.
- To send notifications if you enabled them.
- To improve stability and usability by analysing anonymous statistics.
- To show ads (in the free version) and process Premium subscriptions.
Third parties
We rely on trusted services, each with its own privacy policy:
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging — push notification delivery only (we do not run analytics through Firebase).
- Google AdMob — ads in the free version. May use advertising identifiers; you can limit personalised ads in your device settings.
- App Store / Google Play — Premium subscription processing. We never see or store your payment details.
- F1 data providers — we receive sports data from them. We do not send them your personal data.
Advertising
The free version contains ads. Ad networks may use device identifiers to serve and measure ads. You can reset or limit your advertising identifier in iOS/Android settings. The Premium version is ad-free.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 (or the age set by your local law) and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Retention and security
We keep data only as long as needed for the stated purposes and apply technical and organisational safeguards (including HTTPS encryption in transit). Anonymous analytics may be retained in aggregate form.
Your rights and data deletion
Under the GDPR and applicable law you have the right to access, correct, delete and restrict the processing of your data, and to object to processing.
Because data is linked only to an anonymous identifier, you can ask us to delete everything associated with it (favourites, predictions, leagues, analytics events and push token) — see the Data deletion page. Uninstalling the app stops any further collection.
International transfers
Our providers (Google and others) may process data on servers in other countries under appropriate safeguards.
Changes
We may update this Policy. The current version is always available on this page with the update date shown.
